Permits: Driveway vs. Street

A container that sits entirely on your own property — driveway, side yard, gravel pad — needs no permit anywhere in our service area, and that covers the large majority of residential drop-offs we do. Permitting only enters the picture when the box has to sit in the street. Inside Odessa city limits, that’s handled by the City’s Engineering Department under the Code of Ordinances’ Major Construction Work rules; call ahead and we’ll help you confirm current requirements before delivery day. If you’re in West Odessa, Notrees, Penwell, Pleasant Farms, or Gardendale — all unincorporated Ector County — the County’s own Development Services department handles right-of-way placement, and there’s no fee to obtain that permit. What Can — and Can’t — Go In

Texas rules under 30 TAC § 330.15 keep lead-acid batteries, do-it-yourself used motor oil, and whole unprocessed tires out of the landfill entirely, and knowingly disposing of a lead-acid battery improperly is a Class A misdemeanor under Texas Water Code § 7.185. Refrigerators, freezers, and window A/C units need their refrigerant recovered before they can go to landfill. Scheduling Around Severe Weather Season

The Permian Basin is genuinely windy country, and the stretch from late February through mid-July — April is the single windiest month here — brings sustained wind, blowing dust, hail, and the occasional tornado on top of the normal cleanup and remodel calendar.
